  By: brandoniles on Oct. 5, 2020, 8:24 p.m.

Bridging Floating Price and Stablecoins

The new AMPL/USDC smart pool jointly developed with Balancer removes most impermanent loss normally incurred by liquidity providers on other AMMs like Uniswap. This will demonstrate how Ampleforth is a comp...

Ample: A Non-Dilutive Asset That Borrows Like A Stablecoin

The Ampleforth Roadmap recently described AMPL as a monetary innovation and building block for the future of finance that aims to be a cross-chain value highway. Borrowing and lending i...

Re: Where can I find historical rebase % or oracle rates used for the rebase?

  By: brandoniles on Aug. 12, 2020, 10:25 p.m.

You could get this from the supply history page here: https://www.ampleforth.org/dashboard/supply

You can see it in the graph if you click '%'.

Or if you're looking for the raw data, you can use the"Export to CSV". The data needed to compute the...

Re: Supported DEX Pools

  By: brandoniles on Aug. 10, 2020, 5:41 p.m.

Yes, that definitely works as long as you use a liquidity token from a supported Uniswap pool. The downside is that traders wouldn't be able to trade AMPL natively on the platform (only the liquidity tokens that contain ample). LPs still get some ...

Re: Supported DEX Pools

Hey Titus!
In that case I recommend minimizing risk for right now because we expect to be slow to move here.

For context on how we're approaching this in the beginning... we need to be very conservative with what we add because once we include su...

Removing Pausability

  By: brandoniles on Aug. 7, 2020, 9:30 p.m.

One year ago, we wrote in the State of Discretion and Governance in Ampleforth about two emergency governance-only functions: setRebasePaused and setTokenPaused. These were meant to facilitate the launch process and guard users against unexpected,...

Re: Grant Proposal: Reimburse stolen 7789 AMPL assets from 07/22/2020 Metamask hack

  By: brandoniles on July 24, 2020, 8:59 p.m.

Hey Cryptofan, sorry for your lossed funds.

Unfortunately, I don't think we can safely reimburse lossed funds like this. The biggest reason is that it sets a precedent that we wouldn't be able to keep up with or verify in a sustainable manner.

Oh yeah, I remember these!

Surprised you didn't put it in the Art&Design forum :P

Re: Proposal: Make rebase time rotating - more fair for all time-zones globally.

  By: brandoniles on July 23, 2020, 4:13 p.m.

Yeah it's an interesting suggestion, and one we've thought about as well.

The very first implementation didn't have a defined time-window at all. It only enforced that at least X hrs passed since the previous rebase, and we expected that this wou...

Supported DEX Pools

Platforms Requiring Active Support

Pools on Uniswap V2, Balancer, and SushiSwap require active support from the protocol. It is recommended that LPs stay away from AMPL pools on those platforms not included in the lists below:

Uniswap V2

Re: How do I view records of AMPL increases for my ERC20 address?

  By: brandoniles on July 15, 2020, 5:39 p.m.

Hey great question. Right now the simple answer is there's no easy way to see this. We've talked with a few popular wallets about this feature, but it's not implemented anywhere yet.

This is a funny case where centralized system do a better job. ...

I had a fun conversation with Charlie Shrem the other day on his podcast Untold Stories. We cover a bunch of topics and Charlie brings a lot of great energy to the table. Worth a listen:

Re: Can governments afford the debts they are piling up to stabilise economies?

  By: brandoniles on May 4, 2020, 11:50 p.m.

Interesting read, thanks. It's funny to compare these two side-by-side.

MMT proponents are often painted as saying you can print as much money as you need whenever you need. My understanding, though, is that MMT also says "the only limit is infla...

Re: Thoughts on bitcoin price post halving - April 2020

  By: brandoniles on April 24, 2020, 10:30 p.m.

I agree with that near term prediction. Anticipation by enough people of increased price will be self-fulfilling.

In the medium term, I think the reality that will set in that miner selling is insignificant compared to daily trading volumes, so t...

Is AMPL really immune to runaway inflation / deflation?

  By: brandoniles on April 24, 2020, 5:34 p.m.

I got this question today over email and I thought I'd post it here with my answer here as well.

I'm still stuck with a core question regarding the incentive to hoard / sell AMPLs, and wondered if you could help me out with this:

How does adjust...
